The Hindu Kush is a mountain range that stretches between central Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. The name the Hindu Kush means “Hindu Killer” which was given by Ibn Battuta.
The mountains, known as Uparisyena are also the site of the Hindu Kush militarised conflict zone. The conflict arises after the partition of India, when the British left the area, leaving the area under the authority of Afghanistan.
